Memory Eternal to His Eminence, Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America. (8/9/48 - 11/8/24)
Description goes hereOn Saturday, November 16th, 2024, following his funeral, the body of Archbishop Peter was transported to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York for his burial. Archbishop Peter was tonsured a monk at this monastery, the “Abroad Lavra” as it is often called, and he wished to be buried in the brotherhood cemetery there.
Vladyka’s body arrived just before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 17th, and lay in state in the monastery cathedral during all the Divine Services from that time until his burial.
On Monday, November 18th, clergymen and faithful from throughout North America gathered at the monastery to bid their last farewells to Archbishop Peter. Two Royal Houses were represented, clergymen came from California, from Canada, from throughout the east coast of America, and of course from our Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America. Five bishops led the panikhida and burial, with Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern American and New York presiding. A large host of clergymen served, with many more praying in the cathedral, and the cathedral full to overflowing with the gathered mourners.
Following the panikhida inside the cathedral, Archbishop Peter’s earthly remains were carried upon the shoulders of the gathered priests to his final resting place in the monastic cemetery. Vladyka was laid to rest directly beside his fellow worker in our diocesan piece of Christ’s Vineyard, Archbishop Alypy.
We ask your prayers for the repose of the soul of Archbishop Peter.

It is with profound sadness that ORPR mourns the passing of one of our own. Our dear young camper, cabin leader, and counselor Anastasia Chapman reposed in the Lord earlier today. We remember Ana with her constant, genuine smile, always sharing Christ’s peaceful, radiant joy with those around her.
Please keep Ana and her family at the forefront of your prayers - tonight, tomorrow night, and if at all possible, every night for the next forty days. We pray that Our Lord send comfort to all of us who miss her, and that her memory will be eternal.
